Boris Karloff & director James Whale on the set of Bride of Frankenstein, 1935. Real photo, real makeup, real craft — that's the show.
The Casting Call
- Gore Wars is casting practical effects artists and horror filmmakers to compete on a reality competition series where the winner takes a $10,000 grand prize.
- To enter, just show us your work. Send a reel or examples of your practical effects — prosthetics, makeup FX, blood rigs, creature builds, gore gags. Existing work is perfect; you don't need to shoot anything new. Keep it under about 3 minutes.
- Practical effects only. No AI. No CGI. If it bleeds, it bleeds for real (fake real). We want to see the rigs, the prosthetics, the splatter — the craft is what we're casting.
- It should be your own work that you have the right to share, with everyone on camera OK to appear.
- Your submission will never train AI. Submissions are watched by human producers for casting purposes only — we do not use them to train any AI system. Period.
- Casting closes August 20, 2026. US residents 18+. See the Casting Terms and Materials Release.
Alfred Hitchcock directs Janet Leigh — Psycho, 1960. The blood was chocolate syrup. That's practical effects.
